Un recorrido fotográfico por algunos de los lugares más pintorescos e interesantes, desde el punto de vista turístico, en el tramo de la Cornisa Cantábrica comprendida entre Cantabria y Euskadi (País Vasco). Una multitud de opciones a elegir, entre mar, playa y montaña.-

San Sebastián (Guipúzcoa).- Capital de la provincial de Guipúzcoa, fue uno de los destinos turísticos más famosos de España, con la bahía de la Concha como principal atractivo. Es una ciudad con calles bien trazadas, cuidadas, y con amplias zonas verdes, en la que destaca la calidad de sus edificios, con un estilo arquitectónico moderno, de corte francés y aburguesado, que le dan un cierto aire de señorío. Es mundialmente conocida por los eventos que organiza, tales como el Festival Internacional de Cine, que, junto con otros, le han dado un prestigio y reconocimiento merecedores de ser nombrada Capital Europea de la Cultura para el año 2016. Dado que tiene una antigüedad de aproximadamente un milenio, dispone de un casco histórico, llano y con calles rectas y bien definidas, donde se pueden encontrar vestigios de su pasado, siendo, además, el centro gastronómico de la capital, donde se puede disfrutar de los tradicionales pinchos que llenan las barras de los múltiples bares y restaurantes que se esparcen por toda la zona. Es una visita obligada, de la que, a buen seguro, quedarán sorprendidos y gratamente complacidos.

San Sebastián (Guipúzcoa). - Capital of the province of Guipuzcoa, was one of the most famous tourist destinations of Spain, with the Concha Bay as the main attraction. It is a city with well-planned streets, well maintained, and with large green areas, in which highlights the quality of their buildings of modern architectural, of style French and gentrified, which give to this city an certain air of lordship. Is globally known for its events, such as the International Film Festival, which, along with others, have given to the city a recognition and prestige for deserving the honor of being named European Capital of Culture for 2016. Given that this city has a age of about a millennium, has a large historical district, besides of being very flat and with straights streets and well-defined, where you can find traces of his past, being also the gastronomic center of the capital, where you can enjoy of the traditional skewers which are found in the many bars and restaurants that are scattered throughout the area. It is a visit of that, without doubt, you will be really surprised and, of course, you will be completely satisfied.

Hondarribia (País Vasco).- Es una bonita población situada en el extremo noreste de Guipúzcoa, a orillas del estuario del río Bidasoa que, a su vez, forma la frontera natural entre España y Francia. Sus orígenes se remontan a más de 8 siglos, y, en el casco histórico, se pueden encontrar vestigios que datan de cientos de años atrás, siendo la única ciudad de la provincia que conserva sus murallas renacentistas. Actualmente es un centro turístico de primer orden, con infinidad de alicientes para el visitante. Aparte de otros aspectos, cabe destacar el ambiente que se vive en el entorno del paseo marítimo, donde la calle de San Pedro forma el eje de una singular oferta gastronómica en la que los múltiples bares y restaurantes de la zona compiten en ofrecer la más variada y atractiva colección de pinchos que, acompañados de unas copas de chacolí (bebida tradicional procedente de Vizcaya), proporcionan una singular y suculenta comida. La proximidad a Hendaya (Francia), a la que se puede llegar vía marítima en unos pocos minutos, y a San Sebastián, de la que dista unos 20 km., la convierten en un punto de partida ideal para visitar estas dos ciudades.

Hondarribia (Basque Country). It is a beautiful town located in the northeast corner of Guipúzcoa, on the banks of the estuary of Bidasoa river, which, in turn, forms the natural border between Spain and France. Its origins date back to more than 8 centuries, and, in the historical district, you can find remains dating back hundreds of years, being, in this moment, the only city in the province that retains its Renaissance walls. Today it is a prime tourist center with lots of attractions for the visitor. Apart from other things, worth noting the festive atmosphere that exists in the environment of the waterfront, where San Pedro Street forms the hub of a unique gastronomy with many bars and restaurants in the area competing in offering the most varied and attractive collection of skewers, accompanied by a few glasses of chacolí (traditional drink from Vizcaya), that provide a unique and delicious meal. The proximity to Hendaye (France), which can be reached by sea in a few minutes, and San Sebastian, which is about 20 km, make it an ideal starting point to visit these two cities.

Castro Urdiales (Cantabria).- Una villa de arraigada tradición marinera, así como un centro turístico de primer orden en Cantabria; en mi opinión, el de más calidad de toda la región. La espléndida fachada marítima que ofrece esta localidad es, por si sola, suficiente motivo para justificar una visita. Si a esto le unimos la calidad de sus servicios, su atractivo puerto, un centro histórico que data de la época romana, cuidado y cargado de atractivos culturales, las múltiples posibilidades para la práctica de todo tipo de deportes relacionados con el mar y una gastronomía de primer orden, con restaurantes de primera clase, no cabe la menor duda que la elección de esta villa para pasar unos días de descanso se puede considerar un verdadero acierto.

Castro Urdiales (Cantabria). - A town of rooted maritime tradition and a leading tourist center in Cantabria. In my opinion, the one of better quality of the entire region. The splendid waterfront of this town is, by itself, sufficient reason to justify a visit. If to this we add the quality of its services, its attractive harbor, a historical center dating back to Roman times, well cared and loaded of cultural attractions, the multiple possibilities for the practice of all type of sports related to the sea and a gastronomy of first order, with first-class restaurants, no doubt that the choice of this town for spend a few days off can be considered a real success.

Laredo

Laredo y Santoña (Cantabria).- Son dos villas separadas par la Ría del Ansón. La primera de ellas ha sido, durante los años 80 y 90, uno de los destinos turísticos más populares de España, conservando aún un buen atractivo para muchos visitantes. Lo más espectacular de esta villa es su extraordinaria playa, de finísima arena y con una longitud de aproximadamente 6 km. Es obligada la visita a su casco antiguo, que conserva su carácter medieval y donde se concentra una variada oferta gastronómica con productos y platos típicos de esta tierra. Para visitar Santoña, conocida básicamente por su industria conservera, lo más recomendable es utilizar las embarcaciones turísticas que salen del puerto de Laredo, y que, con un tiempo de viaje de aproximadamente 35 o 40 minutos, ofrecen, desde el mar, unas espectaculares vistas de las dos poblaciones.

Santoña

Laredo and Santoña (Cantabria). - Are two towns separate by the estuary of river Anson. The first one has been, during the 80s and 90s, one of the most popular tourist destinations of Spain, maintaining, currently, a good attraction for many visitors. The most spectacular of this villa is its beautiful beach, of very fine sand, with a length of about 6 km. It is recommended to visit the old town, which retains its medieval character, where is offer a varied gastronomy with products and typical dishes of this land. To visit Santoña, known primarily for its canning industry, it is best to use the tourist boats that leaving the port of Laredo, and that, with a journey time of approximately 35 to 40 minutes, offer, from the sea, the more spectacular views of the two populations.

Santillana del Mar (Cantabria).- Aunque es la villa de las tres mentiras, pues ni es santa, ni es llana, ni tiene mar, merece mucho la pena visitar esta localidad, quizás una de las que atesora un mayor valor histórico-artístico de España. Su núcleo primitivo, que es el que da vida a la villa, es un auténtico monumento del Medievo. Pasear por sus calles empedradas es vivir la sensación de trasportarse siglos atrás en el tiempo. No se puede dejar de visitar la Colegiata de Santa Juliana y Las Cuevas de Altamira, así como disfrutar de la rica gastronomía que ofrecen los restauradores de la zona.

Santillana del Mar (Cantabria). - Although is the town of three lies, as neither is holy, or is flat and has no sea, well worth visiting this town, perhaps the place with the more treasured historic and artistic value of Spain. The primitive town, which is what gives life to the villa, is a monument of the Middle Ages. Giving yourself a walk through the cobblestones streets is to live the feeling of to be transported centuries back in time. You can not miss to visit the Collegiate Church of Santa Juliana and Altamira Caves, nor enjoy the delicious cuisine offered by restorers of this zone.

Fuente Dé (Picos de Europa).- Para los aficionados al senderismo y al montañismo, se les puede recomendar una visita a la localidad de Fuente Dé, situada en el municipio de Camaleño, perteneciente a la Comunidad Autónoma de Cantabria. Sin duda que tendrán ocasiones de practicar estos deportes de forma muy amplia. Accediendo desde Fuente Dé al Mirador de Áliva, utilizando el teleférico que salva un desnivel de cerca de 800 metros, podrán disfrutar de magníficas vistas e iniciar cualquiera de las distintas rutas de alta montaña que parten de ese punto. Para todo ello es recomendable utilizar como base logística el Parador de Turismo de Fuente Dé, situado al pié del teleférico, que ofrece buena calidad de alojamiento y buena gastronomía, con productos típicos de la tierra.

Fuente Dé (Picos de Europa). - For lovers of hiking and mountaineering, can be recommend a visit to the town of Fuente Dé, located in the municipality of Camalenyo, belonging to the autonomous community of Cantabria. No doubt they will have opportunities to practice these sports very broadly. If you access from Fuente Dé to Mirador de Aliva, using  the cable car that saves a difference of level of  about 800 meters, you can enjoy magnificent views and start any of the various mountain routes that start from that point. To perform all that, is recommendable to use, as a logistics base, the Parador of Tourist of Fuente Dé, located at the foot of the cable car, that offers good quality accommodation and fine cuisine with typical local products.
